    CICD-U is abbreviation for Centre for Integrated Community Development and commonly known as CICD-UGANDA.

    CICD-U was initiated in 2014 and officially registered with District in 2016. CICD-UGANDA is a Community Based Organization based in Buhweju District with a liaison office in Kampala.

    The organization is social work agency started and owned by founder members who realized a need of social services to help vulnerable persons and rural communities. CICD- U was started by people who hail from Buhweju District, Southwestern together with well wishers passionate about community development especially rural areas in Uganda.  CICD-U is owned by founder members/ Executive Committee members who subscribed to the vision and goals of the organization. The home of the organization shall be Buhweju District and founder members are responsible for sustainability of the organization from one generation to another.

    CICD- UGANDA is located in Buhweju District, South Western Uganda.  Buhweju district was chosen because of its location and Buhweju was curved out of Greater Bushenyi district in 2010. Citizens in Buhweju district grapple with social issues such as poverty, illiteracy diseases, limited access to information, to mention but a few. Buhweju district is considered to be hard to reach area in Uganda because of being mountainous with limited social services. In addition, Buhweju district have limited Civil Society Organizations and CICD- U was formed to work along with government agencies to improve lives of marginalized persons and communities.     Centre for Integrated Community Development (CICD- UGANDA) was created to strengthen and consolidate community development interventions targeting all vulnerable persons and communities for stimulating inclusive development. CICD-UGANDA is community-led initiative that employs multi-sectoral approach in promoting inclusive development and participatory community based learning in development. We target all vulnerable persons and communities such as but not limited to; Orphans and other Vulnerable Children,Young people, Persons with disabilities (PWDs), People with HIV/AIDs, Women, Older Persons, Gold Miners and Prisoners. 

    No.  We strongly recognize and embrace development.  We are passionate about and we cherish sustainable development!.  Ugandans should be able helped to improve their quality of life and exploit opportunities available in the communities. Government and development partners should create enabling environment for all including citizens in rural areas so that people live with dignity and with access to social services.  

    No we are not a political organization. Whatever we do is for all people especially vulnerable persons. We stand for human rights and issues we are trying to address affect all people irrespective of differences.  It should be clear that we are not a political party, and we are not affiliated with or opposed to any political parties that operate in Uganda. What is important to note is that, we are existing to put a smile on the face of marginalized groups and give them hope that they can also live deserving life with dignity.   

    It’s a healthy and development relationship. CICD-UGANDA works with government agencies and structures at all levels. We work with both technical and political leadership and they are aware of our existence. We have so far worked and partnered with the government agencies such as Community Development Offices at sub county and district levels. We are raising awareness and calling upon development partners and Government of Uganda to use multisectoral approaches in addressing socio-economic issues affecting lives of people. Our role is to reach where government is unable to do something but also work with government agencies in effectively and efficiently deliver social services and empower people and communities to be self-reliant.

    We are an inclusive social work agency and ensure equal opportunities for all.  We promote gender equality in all policies, programmes, and activities. Gender mainstreaming is a priority and we have organizational Gender policy in place that guides our work.

    CICD- UGANDA activities are funded by founder members plus subscription and membership of individuals and organisations. However, the funds to run the organization are not enough and we carry our fundraising, writing proposals in order to raise money for the organization. Some activities that do not need financial support we use available resources and execute activities at low cost.

    CICD- U is eager to work with you as a partner in transforming lives of vulnerable persons. Buhweju District needs development partners who can work with grassroots agencies in responding to real needs of people.  We are ready to work with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Government agencies, political leaders, Faith Based Organizations (FBOs), business community as well as communities to stimulate development in the area.
